High Rise Residential Plumbing Services

In High-Rise buildings, apartments and condominiums we use cast iron piping for transmission of rain water leaders (RWL), waste water and sewage water. For Domestic (potable) water mains and risers plumbing systems we may use copper. We use the latest technology in unique PEX piping assuring a strong connection for consistent and durable plumbing systems in each unit. Unlike metal alternatives, PEX plumbing systems are immune to corrosion and mineral buildup also PEX plumbing systems retain more heat in hot-water lines and resist condensation on cold-water lines. For sprinklers and heating applications we use steel Victaulic piping system which reduces waste and increases efficiency.

We are a fully licensed and insured company and provide full mechanical services including design and build. We are a HomeStars recognized company with great customer reviews. Water mains and risers:
We at the plumbing expert install water mains and risers and recommend to re pipe existing domestic water systems.
The water supply of GTA produces a corrosive effect on piping and slowly dissolves the pipe wall causing the pipe wall to wear thin. Electrolysis, high velocity water flow and undersized piping are other reasons for pipe failure. The result is a plumbing system plagued with pinholes, leaks and in need of frequent costly repairs. The “band-aid” method of a rubber hose and clamp covering pinholes on the pipe is a quick-fix temporary solution. However, this method is most often short-lived. In our experience, total water pipe replacements have been necessary to buildings as young as eight years in age.

Most buildings in the GTA were originally constructed with a riser system. This system typically has a pipe that runs vertically in the wall behind the vanity in a washroom or a sink in the kitchen and at times behind a laundry machine. Typically, each suite will have two or three risers, one for the kitchen one for the bathroom and the one for the laundry room.
We provide Isolation valves to each riser at the base of the building.
Example: In a 15-storey building you can individually isolate the kitchens from 101-1501 while to the rest of the building, water remains undisturbed. In effect, fifteen kitchens are isolated instead of the complete building being shut down. The same principle applies to the bathrooms and laundry rooms.

In consideration that most buildings currently have only one shutoff valve for the whole building, being able to isolate each riser is a great convenience over the original installation. Therefore, less downtime and a more effective working condition.
Only the areas where pipes are replaced need drywall repairs and painting.
Approximately 40% less pipe is used in a vertical system resulting in less heat loss and a more efficient system.
There is less water noise within suites because piping is not distributed throughout suites.
Bathroom ceilings are not usually cut and removed as they are with a lateral/valance system.
As you may know, every time a building's water is turned off there is a risk of more leaks when water is reinstated. This system usually requires fewer water shutdowns during repiping.

Generally there are two different types of pipe that are approved for use in a potable water piping system.  Wirsbo Aquapex® and copper. Wirsbo Aquapex® is manufactured in sizes of 1/2” to 2” and this is the material of choice when larger diameter piping is required over 2” in size then copper tube is usually used. Most often we use copper pipe, type L. This copper pipe is commercial grade and thicker than type M, which is used in most home applications.
Wirsbo Aquapex® piping is a plastic cross linked piping system. This system has gained in popularity due to the fact that it is flexible allowing an easier installation particularly in new construction where it can be embedded into concrete in long lengths without joints. The Wirsbo Aquapex® system has a 25-year limited warranty.

Faucets:
We first measure the centre-to-centre distance and turn off the water supply. Then we unscrew the nuts, remove unwanted faucets and change old feed pipes. Next we apply plumber's putty underneath the new faucet before it is attached. We then complete the full installation of the faucet and connect the pipes. Replacing a faucet is an easy step to enhance the look of your bathroom or kitchen, and we guarantee that the area will be spotless after completion.

Kitchen Sink:
We first make an opening for the sink and install the strainer. Next comes the application of the silicone caulk followed by fitting the sink into the opening. Lastly, we tighten the retainer screws and fit the pipes. We will clean up the area after installation and put the old sink in the garage or at the curbside for disposal.

Toilets:
There are some preliminary steps in the removal of the old toilet which include turning off the water supply, removing the old tank and removing the old bowl. After this is completed we can install the new toilet bowl using plumbers putty and position it over the floor opening. The next step is to install the flush handle and then the tank. After this, the water supply line is attached and is followed by the completion and testing of the installation. We will make sure that everything is running efficiently after we are finished.

Bathroom sinks:
We first make an opening for the sink and install the strainer. Next comes the application of the silicone caulk followed by fitting the sink into the opening. Lastly, we tighten the retainer screws and fit the pipes. We will clean up the area after installation and put the old sink in the garage or at the curbside for disposal.

Bathtubs and showers:
The first step is to prepare the site; by turning off all water and leveling the bathtub/shower. Following this, we install the wood supports and the drain. Next comes the installation of the strainer then the overflow pipe. Finally, when the walls are finished the faucets are put in. We ensure that every installation goes above and beyond the standards of each customer.

Drain pipes:
The first thing we do is check underneath the sink to figure out what types of pipe are needed. Next is to secure the sink basket and connect the drain to the wall trap. This process varies for showers, garbage disposals etc.

High end fixtures (European):
We are trained in the installation of current European fixtures that add class and value to your home.

Pipe repair:
A common problem with pipes is leaking. We can repair pipes by tightening joints and replacing sections. Another issue is hearing sound whenever you turn on water; noisy pipes. This usually means that the pipes are hitting against something (like a wall). We can place foam or padding to solve this issue. Despite the problem you are having with your pipes we have the expertise to provide solutions.

Water lines:
First we determine where your water source is (whether it be city water or a private tank). Mostly likely we use threading fitting for water lines and a ditch is dug up close to the water source. Next a PVC pipe is used and cut and use connectors to allow the water to go from the source to your home. Lastly, we check and ensure that there are no leaks before covering up the ditch.

Washing Machine:
First we disconnect the water supply and connect the two water hoses to the wall service port and the washing machine. Next comes the connection of the washing machine drain hose to the drain port. We then plug in the cord from the washing machine into an electrical wall outlet. As a precaution we turn on water valves and make sure there are no leaks; this finishes the washing machine installation.

Laundry connections:
We can rough-in laundry drains and water lines as well as floor drains with primers in your laundry room, whether your laundry room is in the basement, on the first or second floor.

Custom plumbing jobs:
Custom homes are our specialty. We can custom plumb your house according to any drawing or specification. Creating the perfect look you intended.
